Alyssa has always looked at life through a balanced lens of science and art. With a Master of Science in Historic Preservation from Columbia University, along with a B.S. in physics and minors in Studio Art and Art History, she found a way to combine her love of both subjects in the field of stained glass. She completed her training in the stained glass craft at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and finished her Master's Thesis on stained glass conservation before going on to work with several studios in the New York area. She has constructed new stained glass windows for various buildings and churches as well as restored numerous historic windows, including works of Louis Comfort Tiffany, John La Farge, and Frank Lloyd Wright.
Her own personal stained glass projects vary in size from full windows to smaller hanging suncatchers and ornaments. Each one is designed with the client in mind, so each design is unique and personalized. Stained glass as a medium is meant to combine color and light in a breathtaking visual. Alyssa's goal is to create works of art that reflect and capture this idea, providing her clients with a truly special piece that they will treasure forever.
In addition to stained glass work, Alyssa also works in watercolors and has been painting since college. She specializes in watercolor stained glass cartoons, which are drawings used as guidelines to build actual stained glass windows.
Alyssa lives on Long Island with her husband, Nick, who is a local architect. They often find their careers overlapping and collaborate on projects together. They welcomed their son, Mason, in 2021 and all three are carefully watched over by their German Shepherd, Faye.
Alyssa designs and fabricates works of art with glass. Exploring the various effects of light and color, she will create a unique piece specific to any client's desires and space, ranging from full windows to smaller suncatchers and ornaments.
Alyssa is trained specifically in restoration and handling of historic windows with experience in all scopes of work, ranging from cleaning or fixing broken glass or joints to a full rebuilding or resizing of a window. She will be a part of the conservation process, from removal to repair to installation.
Love the look of stained glass but don't have the space for a stained glass piece? Alyssa can create a watercolor cartoon that will provide the look of a stained glass window that does not require light to show its beautiful colors and effects.
